Richmond Community Services proudly celebrates DSP Appreciation Week from September 7 to September 13, 2025. This week is about honoring our incredible Direct Support Professionals, who are the heart and soul of the Richmond family.
What is a Direct Support Professional?
Direct Support Professionals are the everyday heroes who make it possible for us to live our mission of supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. Thanks to you, our vision of empowering people to live fulfilling and independent lives is a reality.
You work hand in hand with the individuals who live in our residences or participate in our Day Habilitation programs. You are advocates, teachers, supporters, and companions. You provide encouragement, guidance, and care in all aspects of life. You help with daily living skills, foster personal choice, create opportunities for community connection, and build independence. Beyond all of that, you form bonds that go deeper than words. Your work is not only professional, it is truly work from the heart.
Simply put, you make a difference every single day not only to the individuals you support, but also to their families and to our entire community.
