Signed into law on July 26, 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was a landmark moment in U.S. history. It guaranteed civil rights for people with disabilities—protecting access to jobs, education, transportation, and public life. It made one message clear: equal rights belong to everyone.
At Richmond, the spirit of the ADA is part of our everyday work. We believe that every person deserves to live with dignity, independence, and opportunity. This day reminds us how far we’ve come—and how important it is to keep advocating for inclusion, accessibility, and respect for all people, especially those with developmental disabilities.
